Overview

United Way Miami is seeking a skilled Education and Child Development Professional to fill the role of Co-Teacher (10 Months). This position offers a unique opportunity to work with children, families, and community partners in providing high-quality early education services.

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our team as a Co-Teacher. The successful candidate will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children aged [insert age], promoting their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. As a Co-Teacher, you will work closely with the Mentor teacher and Teacher to implement a reflective curriculum, materials, activities, and environments daily that support the child's learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Child-Centered Interactions: Communicate and interact frequently, affectionately, and respectfully with children. Encourage and model appropriate behavior and expectations. Be attentive, flexible, and supportive of children and their families, practicing positive discipline techniques.
  • Program Implementation: Collaborate with the teacher to implement a reflective curriculum, materials, activities, and environments daily that provide a balance supporting the child's learning. Demonstrate respect for diversity, independence, and creativity.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Assist in documenting children's accomplishments and conducting observations. Engage parents in ongoing communication about their child's development screenings and assessments.

  • Requirements: A minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Bilingualism preferred. Knowledge of Visible Thinking, Multiple Intelligence, Dual Language, Inclusion, and Early Literacy strategies.
