We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter/Medic to join our team at Hanover County, VA. As a Firefighter/Medic, you will be responsible for providing emergency services, including fire suppression and patient care/life support. You will work closely with our team to respond to emergencies, conduct fire safety inspections, and participate in community service activities.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to alarms of fires, hazardous material incidents, medical and other emergencies.
- Lead, direct, and participate in the delivery of emergency patient care.
- Examine patients, provide care, and report findings to an emergency department physician.
- Conduct fire safety inspections and pre-fire planning for commercial buildings.
- Drive/operate various types of fire/medical apparatus.
- Assure that emergency vehicles are completely stocked and in good running order.
- Maintain cleanliness, state of readiness of stations, apparatus, and all related equipment.
- Perform community service activities, including fire safety education/prevention programs.
- Complete all required reports of runs made by the crew and attend training sessions as required.
- Maintain a good relationship with staff, volunteers, law enforcement, hospital staff, and citizens.
- Foster volunteer involvement and membership to support a combination system.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License.
- EMT certification in good standing.
- Firefighter I & II certifications.
- CPR certification.
- ICS700 & ICS800 and ICS100 & ICS200 certification courses.
This position requires working in a fast-paced emergency response environment, with exposure to hazardous materials, severe weather, and physical demands. The successful candidate must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather situations and maintain a high level of physical fitness.
