Position Summary:

The Senior Principal Operations Program Manager (OPM) will oversee a significant program that spans multiple locations across the United States. This role requires leveraging expertise in operations, material requirements planning, manufacturing, and business strategy within a complex organizational structure. You will be tasked with formulating and implementing operational program strategies and plans, ensuring comprehensive ownership of program performance concerning materials and operations, as well as managing supply risks and opportunities. Effective communication of customer requirements related to regulations and quality standards will be essential. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all matters concerning Operations and Materials.

The OPM will play a critical role in proposal support by leading material and operational proposal activities, including crafting task descriptions and basis of estimates. Collaboration with Factory Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement teams will be vital. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary to influence and engage effectively across various departments and with external stakeholders. While this position may have limited direct reports, the ability to influence and align with others outside your immediate team is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the operations focal point for the Program Integrated Product Team (IPT), responsible for operational aspects of the program, including materials and issue resolution.
  • Develop and implement capacity planning strategies.
  • Provide operational inputs for customer proposals, including BOM costing, operational hours/costing, tooling/jigs, and comprehensive Operations Basis of Estimates (BOE).
  • Assist in Estimates at Complete (EAC) and monthly Earned Value reporting.
  • Support and present operational metrics and data during Program Reviews to both internal and external leadership.
  • Manage supplier risks and opportunities, including obsolescence management and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the integrity of the program schedule is maintained and assessed.
  • Lead efforts to meet readiness requirements throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) stage-gate process.
  • Drive change initiatives aligned with Mercury's strategic objectives and values.
  • Engage in hands-on support for a large and complex program while driving long-term improvements and initiatives.
  • Employ strategic thinking alongside ROI and business case development.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Program Management, or technical Project Management.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is mandatory; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in developing and reviewing EACs and business cases.
  • Proficient in reviewing and understanding statements of work (SOW) and project requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical and prioritization skills.
  • Experience in leading teams with both direct and indirect reports.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), leadership capabilities, and experience working in an IPT environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.

  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government acquisition laws and regulations (FAR).
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP business systems.
  • Familiarity with MRCY-type products.
