Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Preparedness Logistics Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our emergency management team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing logistical plans and procedures to ensure the effective response to public health emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement logistical plans and procedures for ESF-8 public health emergency preparedness and response activities.
  • Manage inventory levels, coordinate preventative maintenance, and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, transport and handle response equipment as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with local, state, and federal emergency management and public health officials to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Facilitate meetings, present information, and conduct training related to ESF-8 preparedness and response.
Essential Job Functions:
  • ESF-8 Logistics Support: Manage the storage, maintenance, and inventory of all PHR8 response assets, ensuring that equipment is deployment ready, appropriately stored, and maintained.
  • ESF-8 Emergency Management: Assist with regional preparedness and response coordination efforts, working closely with colleagues and external partners to develop Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
  • ESF-8 Technical Assistance: Serve as the logistics subject matter expert for all PHR8's emergency response equipment, developing and delivering trainings and presentations to local and regional entities.
  • ESF-8 Response: Participate in the on-call rotation, providing 24/7 phone coverage for the reporting of infectious diseases and public health emergencies, and responding to Public Health emergencies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of emergency management principles and practices, including hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, and disaster preparedness.
  • Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command Structure, and the National Response Framework.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control procedures, and the operating principles and practices of heavy and light equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with external and internal partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
