Job Summary

Hopkins | Lacy is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Division, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. Your expertise in mechanical systems, pipe fitting, and HVAC installation will be essential in meeting our clients' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select and install pipe and related materials, ensuring compliance with specifications and blueprints.
  • Inspect worksites to identify potential obstructions and plan installation and repair to avoid interference with other workers.
  • Cut, thread, and bend pipe using various tools and equipment.
  • Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
  • Connect pipes using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints and hand tools.
  • Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools.
  • Install and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
  • Test pipe systems and observe connected pressure gauges to ensure system integrity.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Up to 4 years of prior Mechanical Technician experience.
  • High School level mathematical and language skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Work Environment and Safety

This role requires frequent travel to and from job site locations. The physical demands of this job include standing (approximately 70%), walking (approximately 20%), and sitting (approximately 10%). The employee must be able to lift up to 100lbs and move up to 200lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
