Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of quality, safe, and effective pharmaceutical services to patients and healthcare practitioners at River's Edge Specialty Pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process new and refill prescriptions for home health care and specialty pharmacy, reviewing pending refills with the supervising pharmacist and generating refill documentation.
  • Pick and stage supplies and medications on the compounding sheet and delivery ticket for pharmacist verification.
  • Generate delivery and pick-up tickets, communicating with patients as necessary to determine their general health status, medication compliance, and overall coordination of care and patient service needs.
  • Gather, organize, and update pharmacy software with clinical data for review and action by the patient care team, including lab data, patient contact documentation, hospitalizations, and patient end-of-therapy documentation.
  • Assist in the management of inventory to be dispensed and ordered, using inventory log sheets per pharmacy protocol.
  • Generate pharmacy and clinical reports from the pharmacy software as directed by the supervisor.
  • Attend morning and afternoon patient care meetings, providing a status report on assigned patients.
  • Assist in prioritizing and progressing patient paperwork, tracking control substance prescriptions requiring prescriber signatures, and updating the control substance log in pharmacy software daily.
  • Perform sterile compounding according to pharmacy policy and procedures, adhering to USP standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CA BOP Pharmacy Technician License in good standing and National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB).
  • Prior experience with filling medications in a pharmacy environment, with experience in specialty pharmacy preferred.
  • Technician registration in the practicing state and National Pharmacy Technician Certification and certificate from an accredited school in states where required.

Working Conditions

The Pharmacy Technician will work in a pharmacy environment, occasionally standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, talking, or hearing. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
