Position Title: Service Route Trainee

Department: Service
Reports To: District Manager

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Compensation: $17 to $20 per hour

Position Summary

The Service Route Trainee role serves as an entry point into the Service Department, providing a pathway for individuals to develop their careers within the company. In this position, you will accompany experienced Route Service Representatives, gaining insights into their unique approaches and best practices. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have access to multiple mentors who will guide you through the essential operations of the Service Department. After completing your training, you will assist with routes during staff absences or when additional support is needed for new account installations. The apprenticeship typically spans six to twelve months, after which you may be promoted to a Route Service Representative, managing your own route and clientele.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with or cover any of the available routes
  • Deliver prompt and effective customer service
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles with clean and/or soiled items
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication
  • Maintain route efficiency and safety standards
  • Develop product knowledge including pricing, colors, sizes, and inventory management
  • Organize delivery vehicle and paperwork
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of account areas
  • Communicate maintenance needs for vehicles in a timely manner
  • Drive a commercial vehicle for extended periods as required
  • Lift and transport items weighing up to 60 pounds regularly
  • Adhere to hygienic standards in handling garments
  • Complete other assigned tasks as necessary
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in customer service preferred
  • Physical requirements are detailed in attachment A

Working Environment

This position operates within a professional setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers and phones. The physical demands include regular communication, some sedentary tasks, and the ability to lift and move items as necessary.
