Position Overview
This early career role will be responsible for providing both technical and analytical expertise related to commercial trading activity across multiple commodities. Candidates should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand trading behaviors under various market conditions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking and adaptability to changing environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze daily global trading activity utilizing various analytical tools and energy trading systems.
  • Enhance knowledge of North American, European, and Asia Pacific markets, along with the commodities traded by ConocoPhillips.
  • Contribute to existing processes and develop additional models for analyzing time-series data.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with front-office personnel across regions, leveraging an understanding of ConocoPhillips trading strategies.
  • Conduct risk analysis reviews for commercial counterparties and monitor global regulatory trading thresholds.
  • Engage in business improvement projects, potentially leading cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience with database design and SQL using platforms such as Access, Oracle, or SqlServer.
  • 1+ years of experience in programming languages including VBA, C, Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Beginner proficiency in designing solutions using data analysis tools like Power BI or Tableau.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of commercial experience or relevant oil & gas experience, including internships.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced modeling and time series data analysis experience.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, particularly with senior-level staff.
  • Ability to deliver results through realistic planning to achieve goals.
  • Build positive relationships based on trust and seek collaboration across organizational boundaries.
  • Actively listen and invite new ideas for shared understanding, influencing and driving positive performance.
