Emergency Medical Technician

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a vital role in providing pre-hospital and hospital patient care in emergency situations. As a member of the Crawford Country team, the EMT responds to emergent and non-emergent calls, utilizing their skills and training to deliver high-quality care to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Respond promptly to patient care requests, providing timely and effective care in emergency situations.
- Complete accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, adhering to department and state policies.
- Ensure that vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and ready for response at all times.
- Collaborate with Emergency Department staff, including nurses, paramedics, and supervisors, to provide seamless patient care.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, community volunteers, hospital staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in required safety and annual training programs, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Adhere to the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens, prioritizing patient and staff safety.
- Exemplify respect and professionalism in interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues, fostering a positive and courteous environment.
- Contribute to the department's goals and objectives by working effectively as part of a team and promoting a culture of excellence.
- Meet annual education requirements, staying current with industry developments and best practices.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, adhering to strict confidentiality protocols.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled, demonstrating reliability and responsibility.
- Wear identification while on duty, promoting a professional image.
- Comply with all organizational policies, regulations, and standards, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
- Represent Crawford Country in a positive and professional manner, embodying the organization's values and mission.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities, driving excellence in patient care.
- Attend regular staff meetings and in-services, staying informed and engaged.
- Current state EMT certification, demonstrating expertise in emergency medical services.
- One year of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, preferred but not required.
- Current certification in CPR, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
