Job Title: SMT Rework Technician

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an SMT Rework Technician, you'll play a critical role in supporting our PCBA rework and harness repair efforts, working closely with our engineering team to develop new products and systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Proficiently apply soldering and rework techniques in accordance with IPC and JSTD standards.
  • Solder and de-solder through-hole and SMT components with precision and accuracy.
  • Support conformal coat, masking, epoxy application, and coating processes.
  • Collaborate with avionics engineering to rapidly iterate electronic components and harnesses.
  • Assemble PCB assemblies into product chassis with mechanical and electrical precision.
  • Work closely with engineering to bring innovative ideas to reality.
  • Monitor work progress against area benchmarks and deliver results on time.
  • Read, interpret, and work from drawings and controlled documentation.
  • Assist in developing production processes for first-time production runs.
  • Demonstrate excellent concentration, attention to detail, and work efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or PCBA fields.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings, controlled documentation, and processes.
  • Experience working in electro-mechanical manufacturing, precision manufacturing, or aviation/aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and IPC and/or JSTD certification.
  • Electro-mechanical assembly and prototype development experience.
  • Ability to set up and run tests and experiments.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office, as well as shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required.
  • Ability to distinguish colors as required.
Compensation and Benefits:

Pay range: $33.00/hour (Avionics Development Technician/Level 1), $39.00/hour (Avionics Development Technician/Level 2), $45.00/hour (Avionics Development Technician/Level 3). Base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Eligible for long-term incentives, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.

Accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Non-exempt Washington employees are eligible for sick leave in accordance with Washington's Sick Leave policies.
