As a Medical Director, you will oversee medical operations and provide guidance in alignment with company security protocols and institutional regulations. You will ensure that necessary documentation of services is submitted to the appropriate Medical Director or designee for monitoring compliance with contracts. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating any changes in schedule coverage and assisting in arranging medical service coverage during extended absences.
Key Responsibilities
• The Medical Director offers clinical oversight for the facility's medical program, adhering to established policies for admissions, transfers, and referrals.
• They supervise the care provided by other staff and offer consultation to all professionals within the system.
• The Medical Director collaborates with the Health Services Administrator to identify challenges and propose solutions aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, including the establishment and maintenance of Chronic Care Clinics.
• They ensure accurate documentation and compliance with the established therapeutic formulary, as well as provide emergency care on-site and respond appropriately in urgent situations.
• The Medical Director acts as a liaison with community healthcare providers, consults with medical specialists, and reviews and approves treatment protocols and clinical policies.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited medical school.
Experience
- Preferred experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Public Health.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must hold and maintain current licensure in the state of employment.
- Must maintain a current DEA registration.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
- Must uphold privileges and meet CME requirements for ongoing medical practice in the state.
