Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops engineering scope of work, recommends equipment selections, and other pre-construction activities.
  • Mechanical designs for central chiller plants, central boiler plants, package units, split systems, air handling units, variable refrigerant volume units, and other mechanical systems.
  • Coordinates with other engineering disciplines.
  • Prepares preliminary (redline) design layouts and equipment selections for estimating.
  • Responsible for the quality of work produced by third-party engineering consultants and in-house Jr Engineers.
  • Participates in conceptual design for specific projects.
  • Performs site inspections to verify equipment selection, develop scopes, and to gather information as necessary for assessments.
  • Performs calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, pipe and duct sizing, friction loss calculations, etc.
  • Works with our team of Project Managers throughout project design and construction.
  • Creates Energy Models as necessary for Title 24 Compliance or Life Cycle Cost Analyses.
  • Leads a team of Jr Engineers and Drafters on specific projects and provides quality control on their work output.
  • Assists with training of Engineers, Drafters, and other Technical Support staff.
  • Assists with on-going design standards development.
  • Prepares and delivers client presentations.
  • Helps to develop, write, and review client proposal documents, including financial and technical sections.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with other EMCOR/Mesa departments (e.g., Operations, chiller teams, project management, service, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to growth and development.
  • Other duties and special projects as directed.

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering license in CA required; a PE license in NV is a plus.
  • CEM or LEED certifications are highly preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience in HVAC Design/construction.
  • Extensive design experience with chilled water and boiler central plants.
  • Knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI codes is a plus.
  • Independent decision-making is required.
  • Computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and BlueBeam.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD MEP or Revit is a plus.
  • Experienced with California Codes and Energy Efficiency Standards; knowledge of Nevada Codes is a plus.
  • Experience with energy efficiency, developing or supporting performance-based projects or energy services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to write technical proposals and reports.
  • Strong customer presentation skills and a demonstrated sales aptitude.
  • Financial acumen, inclusive of cost modeling for sales proposals.
  • Experience in developing technical and cost proposals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Must be capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at any given time.
