Position Summary:
Contractor Resident Engineers/Clerk of Works at DCAMM's Office of Design and Construction are tasked with supervising a range of public construction projects across the state. These projects may include new construction, renovations, demolitions, environmental remediation, and initiatives focused on energy and water conservation, including substantial retrofits and renewable energy technology installations. The role involves monitoring daily construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
Resident Engineers work closely with Designers, Contractors, and Project Managers/Project Engineers to uphold quality standards, implement appropriate construction techniques, maintain safety protocols, and comply with relevant codes and regulations, including accessibility guidelines. They also assist in coordinating on-site testing and ensure the accuracy of project documentation and records.
Contractor Resident Engineers actively engage in Facility Performance Evaluations and contribute to assessing the performance of general contractors. Multiple contract engineer positions are available at various project locations statewide, with the possibility of contract extensions.
Qualifications:
External applicants should possess a minimum of a BS/BA degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, along with at least five (5) years of relevant experience. Supervisory construction experience of ten (10) years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of building construction methodologies, possess knowledge of applicable state and federal codes, and it is preferred to hold a Licensed Construction Supervisor designation.
