Job Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to facilitate trading operations by conducting comprehensive market research and analysis, managing risks, and executing trades with guidance from senior traders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct research to generate fundamental product balances for both the US and global markets; perform market analysis to identify shortages and logistical challenges.
2. Assess risks and execute trades under the supervision of senior traders.
3. Provide market intelligence, information, and updates for internal and external risk management activities.
4. Develop tools to analyze and capture hedging opportunities based on performance objectives and supply/demand models.
5. Collaborate with fellow analysts and function as a cohesive team.
6. Model behaviors that align with the company's common purpose; ensure that guests and team members receive the highest level of support.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (quantitative subject such as finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or physical science) is required.
- A minimum of five years of experience in the field or as part of a front desk analytics team is required.
- At least three years of experience in the commodity or derivatives industries is required.
Specialized Knowledge
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required; advanced skills are preferred.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the energy trading and research field is required.
- Knowledge of energy trading markets for gasoline, diesel, and biodiesel for financial and physical contracts is required.
