Surgical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Operating Room. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions.
About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where you will have the chance to develop your skills and expertise as a surgical nurse. You will be responsible for performing comprehensive assessments, collaborating with the surgical team to develop individualized plans of care, and providing safe and effective care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform population-specific comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of the patient's condition and care needs.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to define, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for each surgical patient.
- Follow the five medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patient outcomes.
- Document the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner using the appropriate tools.
- Develop and maintain aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure and identify and communicate any breaks in technique to the surgical team.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
- Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) upon hire.
- Previous surgical or labor and delivery experience, specifically assisting with C-sections.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess basic computer skills.
