Job Summary

The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises and coordinates patient care delivery on the assigned nursing units and is accountable for meeting standards. The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the assigned unit by planning, directing, and evaluating all nursing service functions and activities for the assigned patient care unit to ensure delivery of optimal available quality patient care and organizational effectiveness.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to developing positive working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Educates and validates staff on patient experience tactics, ensuring accountability and adherence to standards.
  • Participates in daily rounding for outcomes, promoting a culture of excellence and quality care.
  • Promotes and validates compliance with iCARE standards, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
  • Maintains responsibility for nursing units on a 24/7 basis, unless otherwise approved.
  • Performs duties in a timely manner, providing updates on any delays or issues.
  • Adheres to AdventHealth standards for dress and professional appearance, maintaining a professional image.
  • Collaborates with staff and peers to create optimal synergy and outcomes, driving excellence in patient care.
  • Completes behavioral-based interviewing for all new hires, ensuring a thorough and effective process.
  • Participates in 30, 60, and 90-day evaluations of new staff, assisting in the completion of meaningful annual evaluations of existing staff.
  • Meets regularly with staff to obtain feedback and provide guidance, driving continuous improvement and growth.
  • Complies with AdventHealth's corrective action process, ensuring a fair and effective approach.
  • Monitors and maintains acceptable compliance with budgets, managing productivity and collaborating with the Nurse Manager on variance reports and action plans.
  • Assists in the development of Operating and Capital Budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Facilitates patient flow to and from the units, ensuring efficient and effective care delivery.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities, driving process improvements and enhancing patient care.
  • Implements actions based on benchmarks and data, monitoring and evaluating progress to drive excellence.
  • In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, continually monitors vacancy and turnover rates, assisting in the implementation of strategies for staff retention.
  • Completes and submits departmental reports as assigned by the Nurse Manager, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Demonstrates accountability by taking responsibility for decisions, actions, and results, driving a culture of ownership and excellence.
  • Maintains regulatory agency preparedness, ensuring compliance and adherence to standards.
  • Participates in staff development, ensuring education and advancement of staff skills and certifications.
  • Serves as a mentor and advisor, facilitating professional growth and development of Unit Staff.
  • Plans new projects or expansions, including equipment, staffing, and space requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assumes staff RN duties and responsibilities as appropriate, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current valid Florida State Board of Nursing Registered Professional Nurse license
  • BLS, ACLS if required per department standards
  • Minimum of one-year hospital acute care RN nursing experience and one year prior leadership experience
