In this pivotal role, you will oversee and facilitate the evaluation of security controls for information systems, ensuring compliance with DOD standards and protocols.
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of DOD information assurance policies and practices, along with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of security controls for information systems in alignment with DOD standards.
- Collaborate with system owners, program managers, and other stakeholders to confirm the effective implementation and operation of security controls.
- Assess and analyze security controls to gauge their effectiveness and identify potential vulnerabilities.
- Prepare and present detailed security assessment reports to DOD authorities, outlining assessment findings and recommending remediation strategies.
- Offer guidance and training to system owners and stakeholders on security control evaluation processes and best practices.
- Remain informed about DOD security policies and guidelines, providing suggestions for enhancements to ensure adherence to current regulations.
- Engage in the formulation and execution of security plans, policies, and procedures for information systems.
- Review and contribute to system security documentation, including security plans, contingency plans, and incident response plans.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- DOD 8570 IAT level II certification (e.g., Security + CE, GSEC, SSCP).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, with at least 7 years in DOD information assurance policies and procedures.
- At least 5 years of experience with security control evaluation methodologies and tools.
- Extensive knowledge of DOD security policies and guidelines, including RMF, JSIG, and NIST SP.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in Cloud security, Zero Trust architecture, ICAM, and Data management.
- Background working with or within U.S. Intelligence (IC) agencies and the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
- Familiarity with eMASS and accreditation packages.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
