Job Title: Security Specialist

Job Summary:

The Security Specialist role is a critical position at Volunteers of America Eastern WA Northern ID, responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our programs and participants. This includes developing relationships with participants and clientele to remove barriers of communication, ensuring effective response and risk reduction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, safety, and security for residents, shelter guests, and VOA staff at assigned locations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of property guidelines, resources, and participants for multiple sites and shelters.
  • Conduct interior and exterior walks throughout shifts and review cameras to ensure baseline safety.
  • Observe and report any suspicious, illegal, or criminal activity, as well as lease and/or program agreement violations.
  • Document events throughout each shift, complete nightly shift reports, and share information with necessary parties.
  • Work with and respect all VOA clients, regardless of circumstances, behaviors, or needs.
  • Help identify clients who may require additional support/services to maintain their housing and communicate these needs to case managers.
  • Remain awake, alert, and available throughout each shift, including overnights.
  • Maintain situational awareness and continually assess surroundings.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Security work experience and/or related experience working with individuals in crisis who are low-income, homeless, at-risk, and vulnerable.
  • Become CPR/First Aid/BBP Certified within 6 months of employment.
  • Have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Successfully pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background Check and Driving Record Review.

Benefits:

  • Monetary compensation for this role is $21.50 per hour, with a shift differential of an additional $0.50 per hour for night shifts.

Work Environment:

This role operates in residential project-based housing environments, shelters, and office spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, consisting of usual business office sounds.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to operate a computer with keyboard and mouse, as well as other office equipment.
  • Frequently required to remain in a stationary position, stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
