About Mobile Loaves & Fishes
Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a community outreach initiative dedicated to empowering individuals to engage in service with the homeless since its inception. The organization operates through three primary programs: Truck Ministry, Community First Village, and Community Works. Community First Village is a unique residential development that offers affordable housing and a supportive environment for individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness. MLF is in the process of expanding its community, welcoming many new residents in the coming years.
About the Role
The Facilities Cleaning Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Grounds & Facilities department at Community First Village, a distinctive multi-unit residential property designed to provide homes and dignified employment opportunities for individuals who have faced chronic homelessness. This vibrant community consists of various living spaces, accommodating numerous residents and staff members.
This position entails overseeing Cleaning Coordinators and a diverse team of independent contractors to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities. The Facilities Cleaning Supervisor will be organized, detail-oriented, and focused on fostering positive relationships within the community.
This is a full-time, non-exempt role reporting to the Director of Grounds & Facilities. The typical working hours are Monday to Friday, with on-call availability required during weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of Cleaning Coordinators.
- Manage the hiring, onboarding, and supervision of new Cleaning Coordinators.
- Effectively delegate tasks to ensure timely completion in line with established standards.
- Develop and implement written procedures and processes to enhance departmental efficiency.
- Oversee the documentation and contracts of the independent contractors.
- Manage janitorial supplies and storage for the contractors.
- Ensure training is provided to Cleaning Coordinators and contractors, facilitating clear communication with the Facilities Team regarding work requests.
- Conduct regular inspections of facility cleanliness and promptly address any recurring issues or contractor absences.
- Coordinate with other staff members for additional cleaning needs.
- Monitor equipment and supplies for safety compliance and report any unsafe conditions.
- Participate in team meetings and other necessary gatherings.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Alignment with MLF's mission and values, with a commitment to serving those experiencing homelessness.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience in managing cleaning operations for various building types.
- Ability to train and manage a diverse group of contractors with varying skill levels.
- Experience in commercial cleaning and inventory management is advantageous.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 for effective communication and documentation.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and navigate the property.
- Exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards associated with cleaning operations.
- Moderate noise levels are typical, with occasional higher levels expected.
