Job Summary:

The Senior Tax Specialist will be responsible for assisting clients in preparing and filing their tax returns accurately and on time. This role requires a strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and procedures, as well as excellent analytical, communication, and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and File Tax Returns: Gather client information, calculate taxes owed or refunds due, and complete tax forms for submission.
  • Review Financial Records: Analyze financial statements, income, and expense records to ensure accurate tax preparation.
  • Stay Updated on Tax Laws: Keep abreast of changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify Deductions and Credits: Advise clients on potential deductions, tax credits, and other strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Ensure Compliance: Verify accuracy of data and ensure tax filings comply with legal standards and regulations.
  • Provide Client Support: Answer client inquiries, offer tax advice, and address any concerns regarding their tax situation.
  • Handle IRS Correspondence: Assist clients with audits, notices, and any other communication from tax authorities.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Safeguard client data and maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial information.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification: Enrolled Agent (EA) is advantageous; CPA is a plus.
  • Experience: Prior experience with high volume tax preparation and processing.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of tax preparation software and tax laws.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, communication, and customer service skills; attention to detail; ability to work under pressure, especially during tax season.
