About Our Client
Our client for the Vice President of Sales - Education role is a worldwide producer of educational storage solutions and furniture. This organization has its global headquarters in Europe and manufacturing facilities in both Europe and the US. The company is experiencing significant growth globally, particularly in the US, where it has already tripled its revenue in recent years.
The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for steering the sales efforts in the US region, including branding, business development, and growth strategies. Initially, the VP of Sales will operate as an individual contributor before expanding the sales team. A proven history in leadership, team growth, recruitment, and mentoring of a sales force is essential. Experience in selling through distribution partners and to OEMs is required. Candidates must have a background in the Education sector, ideally in educational furniture or a related field. This position is fully remote; however, candidates are preferred to be located in the Midwest region. The total on-target earnings (OTE) range from $300,000 to $375,000 annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of sales strategies, planning, forecasting, and growth initiatives for the US market.
- Develop robust customer relationships and strategic alliances to understand customer needs and propose suitable products and solutions.
- Collaborate with distribution partners and representative groups in the educational furniture and supply industry.
- Expand existing relationships and identify new OEM clients.
- Meet and surpass budgeted sales and gross margin objectives.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports, plans, forecasts, and administrative tasks in accordance with senior management deadlines.
- Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product management, manufacturing, and logistics.
- Recruit, train, develop, manage, mentor, and coach members of the sales team.
- Guide sales team members in engaging with key decision-makers, facilitating the sales and account management processes.
- Communicate the strategic plan effectively to all key stakeholders.
- Optimize customer-facing time and call cycles to enhance time management and ensure diligent completion of CRM call reports.
- Provide ongoing insights on market conditions, competitor activities, and progress towards business goals.
- Participate in industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
- Conduct market analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- A minimum of 15 years of sales experience.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role with a focus on developing high-performing sales teams.
- Experience in the educational sector, particularly with educational storage solutions and/or furniture.
- Proven track record of selling through distribution channels and/or manufacturing representatives.
- Strong executive presence and leadership capabilities.
- Experience in scaling and growing a business.
- Exceptional skills in developing, mentoring, and motivating a sales organization.
- Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel 40-50% across the US, with occasional international travel.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive base salary ranging from $175,000 to $225,000 based on experience, along with an annual company bonus and total on-target earnings (OTE) between $300,000 and $375,000.
