Job Overview

Are you a seasoned Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) with a Top Secret Clearance and a robust background in IT/Security compliance? We have an exceptional opportunity for you.

As an Information Systems Security Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the primary consultant to the Information System Owner, ensuring the execution and upkeep of security measures in line with the Security Plan (SP) and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations.
  • Upholding Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards and Configuration Management, including Baselines.
  • Conducting Audits on a Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly basis.
  • Executing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) assessments on the network and performing Self Inspections.
  • Evaluating Vulnerability and Risk Management processes.
  • Developing and maintaining system Assessment and Authorization policies.
  • Creating, updating, and overseeing the Plan of Action & Milestones (PO&AM), Continuous Monitoring Plan, Systems Security Plan (SSP), Incident Response Plan, and other Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitoring software and hardware End of Life (EOL) and End of Service Life (EOSL).

A Week in the Life of an Information Systems Security Officer

  • Reviewing and developing accreditation/certification support documentation for Information Systems (IS).
  • Informing stakeholders of any changes that may impact IS accreditation/certification.
  • Conducting system and network self-assessments.
  • Providing security oversight and evaluations on all system testing plans.
  • Participating in system Integrated Product Team meetings.
  • Performing audits to identify vulnerabilities and implementing necessary countermeasures.
  • Conducting vulnerability scans and enforcing remediation protocols.
  • Carrying out security assessments at subordinate facilities and compiling relevant security documentation for system accreditation packages.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and tracking IS inspections, reports, and responses.
  • Maintaining IS security records and advising on Co-Utilization Agreements.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in supporting DoD/IC security and information technology systems.
  • Active TS clearance with SAP eligibility.
  • Proficient in briefing executives and program Integrated Product Team leadership.
  • DOD IAT Level III certification: Any of the following - CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, and GCIH.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Possess an analytical mindset with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Experienced in running vulnerability assessment tools such as ACAS, SCAP, and STIG Viewer to regularly test and maintain security posture.
  • Special access program experience is a plus.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $78,100-$164,300. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
