REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PLATING MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the Director of Plating Manufacturing Engineering, the Electroplating Manufacturing Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting both the manufacturing and engineering divisions within the plating sector. This position is responsible for assisting wafer fabrication production, documenting and reviewing operational processes, and managing the rework of non-conforming wafers. The specialist will also maintain process controls through Statistical Process Control (SPC), gather and analyze data, and propose corrective measures to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the manufacturing and engineering teams in the plating sector.
  • Facilitate wafer fabrication production and ensure efficient and cost-effective processing of wafers.
  • Document and review operational processes; collaborate with engineering to implement effective changes with minimal disruption.
  • Manage the rework of non-conforming wafers, ensuring timely completion.
  • Collect and analyze data, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain process controls using SPC and prepare necessary charts and graphs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process challenges in the plating area.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by recommending modifications to procedures or processes.
  • Assist in training and certifying operators on various tools and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing or engineering to qualify or approve new processes and assist in identifying production integration timelines.
  • Respond to inquiries from team members, management, or other departments.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures as mandated.
  • Perform additional duties of a similar nature or level as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the semiconductor industry within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of electronics and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate various types of plating tools or wet etch equipment.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor and hard disk drive industry principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access for data analysis and document creation.
  • Ability to utilize SPC for maintaining process controls.
  • Capable of collecting and analyzing data using SPC, presenting findings, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various tools and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Commitment to adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with contractors, consultants, employees, management, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Electroplating Manufacturing Specialist operates primarily in an indoor environment on a rotating schedule. The role involves working in a class 100 ESD-sensitive wafer manufacturing facility, requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as a cleanroom suit, gloves, safety glasses, and masks. The schedule may be adjusted to meet operational needs, and there may be exposure to hazardous materials and loud noise. The role involves standing, walking, bending, and performing fine motor tasks, including computer operation and information entry.
