Job Summary:

This position requires the ability to drive a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). May load and unload vehicle as required. Requires commercial drivers' license.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers with respect and courtesy.
  • Stay up-to-date with product inventory and its functionality.
  • Assist customers by asking questions and providing relevant information, and listing down orders for potential purchases.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Follow safety procedures for transporting goods, including inspecting loads to ensure cargo is secure.
  • Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicle.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
  • Verify load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computer, cellular phones, driver cameras, GPS equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisor or other drivers.
  • Load or unload trucks or assist others with loading or unloading, using loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain proficiency in all organizational safe working policies and practices.
  • Perform other driver-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and relay written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to operate available equipment such as calculators or scanners.
  • Basic mathematical skills to make change and give refunds.
  • Knowledge of company's products and services, and customer-related policies.
  • Must have a class 'B' commercial driver's license and required endorsements for the position.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training.
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements such as mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when handling material or operating equipment.
Other Requirements:
  • Successfully pass a DOT drug test as requested, a DOT physical capacity assessment, a background and motor vehicle check.
  • Must maintain a valid commercial driver's license and driving record that meets the organization's safe driving standards.
