Hydrogeological Specialist

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Hydrogeological Superintendent, the Hydrogeological Specialist will deliver expertise in the interpretation of hydrogeological data from well drilling programs, emphasizing both internal and external reporting on this data and monitoring performance metrics.
  • This role is considered safety-sensitive, necessitating the management and reporting of wellfield data to internal stakeholders while aiding in the reporting of well completion and testing data to external regulatory bodies.
Specific Responsibilities Include
  • Overseeing incoming testing and completion data from the commercial wellfield, including information from contractors and consultants.
  • Processing and presenting wellfield testing and completion data to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with external notifications and regulatory reporting, including data interpretation and preparation of figures.
  • Supporting resource development planning, performance assessments, and well design initiatives.
  • Conducting hydrogeological comparisons across various areas or zones of the ore body, alongside other metrics such as geological log interpretation and formation contact determinations.
  • Leading initiatives to enhance the overall geological interpretation of the deposit.
  • Maintaining a data management system for compliance-related well reports, notifications, and other necessary documentation.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications & Education
  • Proven experience with geophysical logging, sampling, and analysis is essential.
  • Expertise in well construction, aquifer testing, and well rehabilitation is required.
  • Familiarity with database/data logger systems is necessary.
  • Experience with mine water management modeling software, aquifer testing software, hydrogeological groundwater flow models, and data management systems is preferred.
  • General project management experience is advantageous.
  • Some knowledge of aquifer-related regulations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Arc-GIS software and mapping is required.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, with technical report writing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, or a related field is required.
Work Environment
  • This position involves a combination of office work and significant outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday.
  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Compliance with the site safety program is mandatory.
Salary

$100k to $120k annually, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package and potential incentive program.
