Port Safety Specialist

Job Summary:
">This role involves providing field safety leadership at Port Wilmington and supporting the Mid-Atlantic Safety Director in implementing and managing the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program.
">Main Responsibilities:
">- ">
- Ensure adherence to Port Wilmington Safety Policy and OSHA Compliance on a daily basis.">
- Implement safety policies and procedures through direct interaction and group training.">
- Inspect work sites to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and Port Wilmington safety processes and procedures.">
- Participate in regular safety and security audits on-site and coordinate corrective action feedback to the Mid-Atlantic Safety Manager and operations management.">
- Lead safety training, safety meetings, and toolbox talks as assigned.">
- Collaborate with terminal warehouse management and ship superintendents to address safety concerns timely.">
- Monitor the execution and effectiveness of corrective action by working with terminal/warehouse management, ILA labor, and ship superintendents and the appropriate regulatory organization.">
- Participate in and lead accident and incident investigation teams as assigned, ensuring that all incidents are properly reported, documented, and investigated.">
- Maintain confidentiality of all company incident files and all required documentation in compliance with regulatory and company standards.">
- Ability to walk, stand, and bend throughout the shift.">
- Must be able to climb up and down ladders, stairs, and equipment.">
- Adapt to varying climates based on outside weather conditions, as well as indoor refrigerated warehouse spaces.">
- Able to work in an environment with moving objects and machinery.">
- Must be able to work varied hours and shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.">
- Complete other duties as assigned by manager.">

- Ensures that all health, safety, and security protocols are enforced and observed in all Company activities to protect employees and the public.">
- Compliance with all applicable laws and relevant industry standards of practice and commits to the continuous improvement of HSE.">
- Provides strong visible commitment, leadership, and personal involvement in health, safety, security, and the environment and makes available the resources necessary to achieve our HSE objectives.">
- Able to travel if/as needed.">
- Must have reliable transportation.">
- Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year.">
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering.">
- OSHA Certifications preferred.">
- Valid/unexpired driver's license.">
- Proficient in MS Office Applications, ability to learn new software.">
- 3-5 years of experience within the maritime industry and union labor management preferred.">
