Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our Sports Medicine Program, you will provide expert care to athletes and ensure their safe participation in sports.

About the Job

This per diem position requires availability on a scheduled basis for varsity and junior varsity athletic activities. You will work closely with coaches, athletic directors, and other staff members to provide preventative care, screenings, and treatment for injuries. Your clinical evaluation and educational skills will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventative Care: Provide preventative care to student athletes, including screenings and treatment for injuries.
  • Triage and Treatment: Triage and treat injuries under the supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Community Outreach: Support local high school athletic programs by performing screenings, on-field treatments, and educating athletes and staff on injury prevention.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification.
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners or license eligible.
  • BLS for healthcare providers.
  • One year of experience as an athletic trainer preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including relevant medical terminology.

Work Environment

This is a per diem position with a variable work schedule, and applicants should be available to work on weekends and evenings as needed. The estimated salary for this position is $22.45 - $32.27 per hour, based on the job requirements and location.
