**Salary and Benefits**

In the United States, this role comes with a competitive salary ranging from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

You may also be eligible for bonus and equity opportunities.

**Job Description**

As a Linux Kernel Developer, you will contribute to upstream Linux development and support engineered systems and Oracle's Cloud infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring and following up on critical issues and backporting them to Oracle Linux as required.

You will work closely with external developers, vendors, and working groups to ensure open-source products and improvements to stability and performance of the OS.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

To succeed in this role, you should have at least 3+ years of software design and development experience with distributed, highly scalable, multi-node environments.

Experience with Linux kernel block layer is a must, along with in-depth knowledge and product development experience working on Linux or similar systems.

You should demonstrate advanced experience with C programming and solid experience with scripting languages like Python, shell, etc.

A strong background in troubleshooting and performance tuning skills is essential, with a plus for developing large-scale compute or storage products.
