Overview

This role is pivotal in overseeing projects related to process innovation and mechanization within the realm of new product introduction and efficiency enhancement in manufacturing. The position entails initiating, assessing, and executing solutions to design and production challenges, alongside coordinating necessary design modifications to enhance manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at refining current processes and product designs, which includes cost evaluation, equipment validation, and aiding in product transitions.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to pinpoint quality, yield, and process enhancement opportunities, emphasizing cost reduction through lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Develop proposals for projects aimed at designing and implementing novel processes, equipment, and mechanization strategies.
  • Support and implement Value Creation initiatives and programs.
  • Coordinate the launch of new and redesigned products, manage special projects, and conduct feasibility studies to enhance product quality, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide production support through timely documentation, process analysis and enhancement, defect analysis, and other technical assistance.
  • Design and define new manufacturing processes to facilitate new product development.
  • Investigate, develop, characterize, and implement new material systems and applications.
  • Offer technical support for international facilities as needed.
  • Deliver process leadership and technical training.
  • Assist and oversee subcontractor firms in developing, piloting, and executing manufacturing systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven internal manufacturing/process leadership experience, particularly in assembly and testing processes, with a background in leading product design teams responsible for transitioning products into production.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, manufacturing programs (simulations and mathematical), drafting, documentation, and MRP systems.
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively and efficiently resolve issues; oriented towards process and change.
  • Experience with adhesive systems, plastic molding, laser welding, and metal stamping for micro-miniature assemblies.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support manufacturing operations (travel requirement typically does not exceed 10% annually).
  • Strong analytical abilities, with experience in statistical process control (Six Sigma certification preferred), Design of Experiments (DOE), and other statistical methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards.
  • Experience working with mechanical fixtures and tooling documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong influencing and negotiation capabilities; ability to work effectively in a team; self-motivated and directed; and possess strong interpersonal skills.
