The UMMG Staff Physician is responsible for delivering medical services to patients, ensuring thorough documentation in accordance with medical staff regulations. This role involves patient assignments based on the physician's educational background, skills, and experience.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Formulates and implements a detailed medical treatment strategy that encompasses biological, psychological, and sociocultural aspects.
- Conducts comprehensive physical evaluations of patients with respect and professionalism.
- Prescribes appropriate medical treatments and medications for patients.
- Collects vital and precise information through the examination of relevant records and discussions with patients, their families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Reports to the supervising physician and adheres to policy co-signing requirements.
- Identifies and reports any hazardous conditions, equipment failures, or inadequacies in supplies to the relevant personnel.
- Documents all Quality Assurance (QA) incidents, including medication errors, to the supervising physician following departmental protocols.
- Takes initiative to enhance knowledge and skills by participating in continuing education opportunities.
- Makes informed decisions regarding interventions based on patient data, preferences, current scientific evidence, and clinical judgment.
- Ensures confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Follows University and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding University resources.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in a relevant discipline.
Certification and Licensing:
Board certification in the relevant specialty.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
- Proficient in maintaining effective interpersonal relationships.
- Able to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Skilled in analyzing, organizing, and prioritizing tasks under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Capable of handling confidential information with utmost discretion.
- Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
- Dedicated to upholding the core values of the University.
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Provides on-call coverage during holidays and weekends for the designated behavioral health facility.
