This position supports the work of the Akron Area YMCA, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Assistant Teacher will work directly with children and parents to ensure all programs meet and exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and implementation of program plans that align with the YMCA's mission and values.
- Assist in creating a vibrant and inclusive environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development in children.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including child assessments and program evaluations.
- Collaborate with site staff to ensure a clean, safe, and organized program environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Support fundraising efforts and contribute to the success of the Akron Area YMCA.
- Qualify as an Assistant Teacher under the Step Up to Quality program and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
- Hold certifications in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Prevention.
- Provide a copy of a high school diploma and undergo a BCI/FBI background check prior to the first day of work.
- Commit to the YMCA's mission, values, and philanthropic efforts.
- Have reliable transportation.
