Job Summary

Souder, Miller & Associates is seeking a highly skilled Surveying Technician to join our team in Arvada, Colorado. As a Surveying Technician, you will assist the Project Manager with daily surveying tasks in the field and/or office, working on a variety of projects that require flexibility, self-directed learning skills, and strong social interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrumentation and Data Collection: Set up and operate various surveying instruments, including RTK/GPS, robotic total stations, controllers/data collectors, and automatic levels, to collect and layout survey data in the field.
  • Advanced Knowledge and Skills: Possess advanced knowledge of survey equipment calibration, operation of controllers or data collectors, and transmission of survey data to the computer network.
  • Field Operations: Perform construction staking activities, including slope staking, utility offsets, streets, and commercial lots, and read survey plats and legal descriptions.
  • Record Keeping and Safety: Prepare neat written field notes and daily records, maintain cut sheets for staking projects, and adhere to survey safety and standard practices.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED required, minimum three years of experience in the surveying industry, and Level III Certified Surveyor Technician Certificate preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with frequent lifting and/or moving of 25 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 100 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Occasional work in outside weather conditions and moderate noise level in the work environment.
