Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Prepare drafting for land development initiatives, ensuring compliance during the evaluation of subdivision plats, property descriptions, and title documents.
  • Create site layouts, grading plans, profiles, and construction details for various civil engineering and utility projects.
  • Draft subdivision plats, legal property descriptions, and easements to ensure adherence to the City Land Development Code.
  • Develop proficiency in assigning property addresses and assist as a backup to the Development Review Land Technician.
  • Utilize diverse data sources, including field observations and GIS data, to produce accurate representations of existing and proposed conditions.
  • Employ advanced civil engineering drafting techniques to create detailed plans and cross-sections for various infrastructure projects.
  • Regularly incorporate GIS and aerial data into civil engineering drawings.
  • Utilize advanced commands and automated procedures within CAD software.
  • Assist in the testing and implementation of AutoCAD software updates.
  • Generate graphics, maps, and exhibits in response to requests from different city departments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D for drafting site layouts, grading, and construction details across various projects.
  • Strong understanding of GIS systems and principles.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering drafting standards.
  • Familiarity with land surveying and platting practices.
  • Capability to integrate field observations into design drawings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining productivity.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in CAD software and related technologies.
Education and Experience Requirements

Educational Background

Associate degree in a relevant discipline.

Professional Experience

Directly Related: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D in civil engineering or land surveying settings. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred: Experience with municipal public works projects.

Physical Requirements
