Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lifeguard to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. As a Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
  • Monitor pool conditions and report any issues to management.
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest safety protocols and techniques.
Requirements
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Intro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course completion prior to starting.
  • Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity.
  • Ability to remain alert at all times.
  • Ability to adapt to changing working conditions.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Lifeguard must be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure the safety and well-being of our members and guests.
