The entry-level position of Sushi Chef I is designed to develop knife skills, fundamentals of rolling sushi, and food safety knowledge. As a developmental role, you will learn to prepare traditional Japanese sushi rice, chop, slice, and fillet various fish and maintain a clean work environment. To succeed as a sushi chef, you should ensure high-quality ingredients in all dishes. This role demands adaptability under pressure and adherence to restaurant quality standards during peak periods.

To excel in this position, you will need strong people skills, core culinary expertise, product knowledge, quality and food safety awareness, and profit management capabilities. Key responsibilities include cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish and vegetables, inspecting the quality of used ingredients, preparing sushi dishes according to guidelines, maintaining cleanliness, reporting equipment issues, sterilizing utensils, and greeting customers. While previous experience in the food service industry and sushi rolling skills are preferred, valid food handler's licenses and sound knowledge of food safety regulations are essential. Additionally, excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to our mission and core values are required.
