Job DescriptionDelivering Quality Patient Care
The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in our patient care team, providing high-quality respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.
This involves performing assessment of patients, determining needs related to treatment regimes ordered by medical professionals, and monitoring patients receiving invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current TN Registered Respiratory Therapist License.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
