Job Description

At Hampton Roads Community Action Program, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PreK Teacher to join our team. As a PreK Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of young children and helping them develop essential skills for future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a maximum of sixteen children, promoting a safe and nurturing environment that fosters their cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
  • Meet and greet children upon arrival and departure, ensuring a smooth transition throughout the day.
  • Perform spot health checks on all children, maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
  • Supervise Teacher Assistants and other employees, conducting annual performance evaluations and making recommendations as needed.
  • Manage the classroom environment, ensuring compliance with codes, fire and safety standards, health standards, food handler's regulations, USDA Regulations, and state licensure.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed caseload documentation, including Child Data Forms, Anecdotal Notes, and Family/Parent/Teacher/Staff/Agency Contact Forms.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans for each child, addressing fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual perceptual skills, self-help skills, language skills, and cognitive skills.
  • Conduct at least two home visits and/or conferences per child per year, documenting home visits and/or conferences accurately into the child's weekly lesson plans.
  • Submit monthly reports to the Program Coordinator, detailing activities, lesson themes, field trips, and home visits/conferences with parents.
  • Maintain accurate class roles and attendance records, submitting copies to the Case Management Worker and Program Coordinator as required.

Requirements:

  • Virginia License in Early Childhood or Elementary Education Pre K - 6.
  • Experience teaching preschool-age children preferred.
  • Background check and valid Virginia Driver's license required for employment.
