We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Apicha Community Health Center. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and families.

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year

About the Role

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, and providing education to patients and families. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, LCSWs, LMSWs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine clients' diagnosis and psychiatric needs, prescribe medication, and monitor treatment course.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, updates, health monitoring, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Maintain a collaborative practice agreement with a psychiatrist.
  • Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to provide effective patient care.
  • Follow-up on referrals and respond to all referrals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary conferences to address complex medical and psychosocial needs.
  • Ensure appropriate transitions of care with external providers.
  • Write reports and documentation as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with current developments in patient care management, health care legislation, and community resources.
  • Maintain professional relations with all clinic staff and clients.
  • Participate regularly in staff development activities.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • New York State Nurse Practitioner License and Current Registration.
  • BLS-certified.
  • DEA Registered.
  • MAT Certified.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to assess, de-escalate, and intervene in crisis situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to interact with multicultural staff and clients, including those from the LGBTQ+ community.
