Job Summary

The Medical Social Worker provides comprehensive clinical social work services for children and their families to assist them in coping with and adapting to the acute and chronic health care conditions of their children. As a member of the Hospital's interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Medical Social Worker assists the hospital in creating an environment and attitude responsive to meeting patient and family needs through understanding psychological, socioeconomic, cultural, emotional and spiritual factors influencing health and illness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical social work services to children and their families
  • Assist the hospital in creating an environment responsive to patient and family needs
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans
  • Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans to address the social and emotional needs of children and their families
  • Provide education and support to families on coping with and adapting to health care conditions
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • Registration as an associate with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners
  • One year post-masters' experience in a clinical setting
  • Thorough knowledge of child and adult development theories and family systems theory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment

This position is assigned to Satelite Clinics (Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Brentwood). The ability to hear alarms, clients and/or instruction is required. The ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20 feet is also required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
