Job Summary

United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live a Life Without Limits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with daily tasks such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation.
  • Provide support and supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Record daily activities, problems, and needs of residents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure each resident's personal hygiene and grooming needs are met.
  • Use appropriate body mechanics to lift, move, and position residents, and provide prescribed exercises and physical care.
  • Inspect homes to ensure safety requirements are met and correct deficiencies or report to supervisor.
  • Conduct evacuation drills and follow program plans for emergencies and disasters.
  • Clean and sanitize appliances, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Cook and prepare meals.
  • Report any problems with equipment used by residents to supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchen, and telephones daily.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Comply with policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality requirements are upheld.
  • Support and protect the fundamental human, civil, constitutional, and statutory rights of clients and families.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • CPR/FA certification.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic computer functions.
