Job Summary

SSOE, Inc. is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Food and Consumer Products business unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for food and beverage industry clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods for projects related to food and beverage industry clients.
  • Perform detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
  • Analyze mechanical, utility, and HVAC systems, and provide solutions to efficiency, production, and other issues.
  • Work with clients and internal resources to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop engineering and capital cost estimates.
  • May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicate changes to the team.
  • May supervise and coordinate the work of less experienced engineers and designers and be responsible for checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
  • May take part in client contact and business development activities.
  • Meet with clients to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
  • Develop engineering concepts and presentations.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines.
  • Keep current on new design methods and ideas.
  • Travel required.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • PE or PE-tracked preferred, five (5) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
  • Experience with design of HVAC and mechanical utility systems, as well as working in sanitary production environments.
  • Prior consulting experience in the food industry, and experience in sanitary design highly desired.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD programs.
  • Strong communications, facilitation, and team leadership skills.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 a year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
