Position Overview

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer plays a crucial role in patient care by performing ultrasound examinations and related procedures as instructed. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring accurate imaging and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts ultrasound examinations and other diagnostic procedures on patients as per physician directives.
  • Documents findings and transmits images to the interpreting physician for analysis.
  • Collects and records all relevant clinical data associated with the ultrasound procedures.
  • Reviews patient charts to gather necessary medical history.
  • Ensures timely completion of all required documentation, including written and electronic records.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
Qualifications:
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of ultrasound technology, operational procedures, and radiation safety principles.
  • Exhibits a strong knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation for optimal imaging results.
  • Capable of working autonomously, prioritizing tasks effectively with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in unexpected situations, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Delivers precise and timely work in a high-volume clinical environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:

A minimum of two years of independent experience as an OBGYN sonographer is required, with proficiency in GYN and all OB trimester scans.

  • ARDMS certification in OBGYN is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • NT credentialing is preferred.
Physical Demands:

This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent bending and reaching, and the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Candidates must possess good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity, along with effective communication, auditory, and visual skills.
