Job Overview

The Counter Sales Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Branch Manager and facilitating counter sales operations. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Branch Manager with counter sales, including product information, pricing, and quotations.
  2. Effectively communicate and recommend electrical products based on customer needs and expectations.
  3. Manage multiple tasks such as order fulfillment, truck unloading, and customer inquiries at the counter.
  4. Develop and maintain a strong sales base with both new and existing customers.
  5. Utilize computer software systems to prepare customer orders efficiently.
  6. Provide accurate product information, pricing quotes, and follow up on customer inquiries.
  7. Promote additional products through a value-added sales approach.
  8. Process customer transactions, including orders, quotes, and returns, with precision.
  9. Promote special offers and programs effectively.
  10. Participate in product training sessions, both online and in-person, as required.
  11. Attend mandatory meetings, both face-to-face and virtual.
  12. Follow up on vendor deliveries to ensure timely shipments and customer satisfaction.
  13. Maintain call logs and discuss sales activities with the Branch Manager.
  14. Respond to requests for catalogs, information, or samples promptly.
  15. Handle all customer inquiries professionally and efficiently.
  16. Implement best practices to ensure high-quality work processes.
  17. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement.
  18. Prioritize tasks effectively based on their importance.
  19. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in compliance with company policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of sales experience (inside, outside, or counter) with the ability to explain and recommend electrical products.
  2. Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and reliability.
  3. Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers.
  4. Well-organized, self-motivated, and capable of independent decision-making.
  5. Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  6. Quick learner with strong relationship-building skills.
  7. Proficient in computer usage, with typing speed of 35-50 wpm.
  8. Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Professional interaction with employees and vendors.
  11. Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Associate Degree or completion of Post-Secondary Courses in Electrical.
  2. 5+ years of equivalent experience may substitute for an Associate Degree.
  3. 3+ years of contractor experience may substitute for an Associate Degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. At least 2 years in a similar role is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 1 year in a progressive position (2 years preferred).
  3. Post-Secondary Courses in Electrical are preferred.
  4. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
