Job Summary

The Construction Equipment Transporter is responsible for operating a tractor trailer truck to transport construction equipment and cargo between Wisconsin and Michigan. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and provides documentation for delivery or pickup of goods to ensure timely service.
  • Loads, secures, and unloads construction equipment and/or other cargo between Wisconsin and Michigan.
  • Determines gross weight load, requests permits when required, and determines route based on road restrictions and load weight.
  • Works away from home, occasionally requiring overnight stays.
  • Maintains telephone contact with project manager to receive delivery or pickup instructions or to receive notice of changes in schedule.
  • Maintains logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance and presentation.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience hauling heavy equipment with lowboy detachable trailers and flatbed trailers.
  • Valid Class A CDL Driver's License required. Must have a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of safe operating techniques of equipment being operated-loaded.
  • Instrumentation and warning devices of the equipment operating.
  • Ability to climb into equipment being loaded and unloaded.
  • An emphasis on safety in both driving and loading/unloading required.
