About the RoleThis position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of practice. You will utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients. Your expertise in lactation education and individualized direct patient and family education will be invaluable in supporting our patients' breastfeeding goals.
About the LocationFairbanks Memorial Hospital is a non-profit facility owned by the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation. We are a Joint Commission-accredited facility with 152 licensed beds and serve as the primary referral center for residents of Alaska's interior. Responsibilities- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Formulate individualized lactation plans of care, education, and intervention in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Deliver continuing education programs related to lactation and suggest updates to educational materials based on needs assessments, advances in theory, and technology.
- Implement plans of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities.
- Evaluate patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
To be successful in this role, you will need current RN licensure in the state of practice, IBCLC, CLC, CBC, or CBS certification, and current BLS certification. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification must be obtained within six months. A minimum of one year of lactation consultant experience in a WIS environment or setting is preferred.
Estimated salary: $83,500 - $110,000 per annum.
