Position Overview:
We are in search of a qualified Process Engineering Specialist to join our team at Technical Associates. This role will involve applying hands-on engineering skills to deliver manufacturing and process engineering solutions for various projects. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in executing industrial engineering projects, alongside a robust understanding of manufacturing and process plant operations.
Travel Requirements:
Local travel to client sites is expected, with mileage reimbursement provided for travel to and from the office. Occasional longer trips or overnight stays may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed layout and manufacturing drawings in accordance with established Engineering and Manufacturing Standards.
- Offer technical design assistance to the Project Leader.
- Oversee and mentor design teams and individual designers as needed.
- Comprehend the project's scope, timeline, and budget constraints, ensuring adherence to these parameters.
- Engage in and lead both internal and external design reviews, considering the interdependencies of various disciplines.
- Adhere to established project control protocols.
- Prepare necessary project control documentation, including transmittals and drawing requests.
- Maintain direct communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage individual projects effectively.
- Coordinate with designers on projects involving processes, machinery upgrades, piping, and utilities.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in interpreting and creating Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID).
- Skilled in designing machine components, HVAC systems, piping, and steam and compressed air distribution.
- Adept at defining total design requirements for project estimation and management, including tracking costs across various project tasks.
- Ability to understand project scope and identify scope changes in collaboration with clients.
- Capable of leading and training Designers, CAD Operators, Technicians, and other Engineers as necessary.
- Experience interfacing with construction supervisors on-site.
- Comprehensive project design responsibilities, including conducting field equipment audits, updating existing drawings, drafting project scope documents, and facilitating start-up procedures, along with operator training when required.
- Experience in paper manufacturing or converting is advantageous.
- Basic AutoCAD skills are preferred; proficiency in 3D CAD is a plus.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is required.
- A PE License in the State of GA is preferred, along with licensure in other states as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to climb ladders and navigate crossovers to access equipment.
- Ability to ascend caged personnel ladders.
- Capable of walking distances from parking areas to designated job sites (potentially over 1 mile), as well as traversing a large manufacturing facility throughout the day for meetings and other responsibilities.
