About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support the implementation of our new business development strategy. The successful candidate will gather business intelligence on upcoming projects, lead capture efforts, and manage proposals in response to USAID and other clients. This hybrid position offers flexibility with a balance of office time in Denver or Washington DC and remote work opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and enjoy working in a dynamic, small business environment. You will be given the latitude to experiment and develop your skills under the mentorship of the Sr. Director of BD.

This role supports the Business Development Unit and reports to the Senior Director of Business Development and Learning. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating the development, drafting, and finalization of technical and cost proposals and budgets, with inputs from technical and operations staff.
  • Leading capture and proposal development efforts, including contributing to partner selection and contract negotiations with prime contractors and/or partner organizations.
  • Tracking new business opportunities and ensuring the new business pipeline is up-to-date.
  • Contributing to the company's new business development strategy.
  • Managing proposal and BD consultant recruitment.
  • Maintaining and developing new relationships with partners, public- and private-sector clients, and corporate/family foundations.
  • Collaborating with a range of team members across time zones.
  • Mentoring and helping build the capacity of BD team members at the Coordinator level.
  • Attending conferences and networking events on behalf of Causal Design.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of 6 years relevant professional experience, or a Master's Degree in a relevant field plus 4 years of directly related professional experience (for Sr. BD Manager).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of 4 years of directly related professional experience, or a Master's Degree in a relevant field plus 2 years of directly related professional experience (for BD Manager).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Google Docs.
  • The ability to manage multiple business development efforts simultaneously.
  • Strong multitasking and deadline management skills.
  • The ability to independently prioritize and manage workload.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $79,559 – $103,422 annually for the Sr. BD Manager and $65,757 – $85,485 annually for the BD Manager, commensurate with experience. Benefits include 11 paid holidays, 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually, a Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement (QSEHRA) allowance, a safe harbor 401K match, parental leave, and a hybrid work environment with flexible scheduling.
