Custodian Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Davenport Community Schools. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vacuum and dust all areas, including hard and soft surfaces
  • Reposition furniture correctly and remove trash
  • Assist with deep cleaning during break periods, including stripping, scrubbing, and recoating
  • Maintain equipment and report any issues to the Head and Lead Custodian
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 56 pounds
  • Ability to climb up to an 8-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks
  • Ability to climb steps and work on uneven ground
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in custodial work

Working Conditions: This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Custodian will be required to work independently and as part of a team.
