School Psychologist Position for Academic Development

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Psychologist to support student academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development in our school district.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of educational psychology, the ability to perform assessments, and experience developing effective interventions to improve student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational assessments to evaluate students' learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral interventions to support student learning and well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a supportive learning environment that fosters academic success and emotional growth.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention for students facing academic or emotional challenges, promoting resilience and self-confidence.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed, ensuring optimal learning outcomes.
- Participate in special education evaluations and eligibility determinations, upholding state and federal regulations, including IDEA.
- Serve as a resource for staff on best practices in addressing students' mental health and behavioral needs, promoting a positive school culture.
- Advocate for students' needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and supporting students' academic and personal growth.
- Develop and implement positive behavior support strategies and programs for both individual students and the school as a whole, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education:
- A master's degree or higher in School Psychology or Educational Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
- Completion of a school psychology preparation program approved by the State Department of Education is also required.
- An active State School Psychologist License is mandatory.
- National certification through the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working as a school psychologist or in an educational setting is preferred but not mandatory for new graduates with appropriate training and internships.
- Strong understanding of psychological assessments and interventions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
- Crisis management and counseling experience are advantageous.
- Proficiency in data analysis and the use of data to inform educational decisions.
- All applicants must pass a criminal background check as required by the state of Minnesota.
- Compliance with district health policies, including any required immunizations or medical clearances.
Compensation:
- This role offers a competitive salary range based on experience and qualifications, between $85,000 and $115,000 annually.
