Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Service Worker II to join our team at the County of Santa Clara CA. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of food in large quantities, as well as leading a small group of subordinates in an assigned food service activity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of meals, including cooking, baking, and food presentation.
  • Lead a small group of subordinates in food service activities, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure that food is prepared and served in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Perform tray-line activities, including serving food portions, checking trays, and calling items.
  • Check tallies to determine proper food quantities and ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Wash pots, pans, and dishes, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • May drive a truck in delivery of food to outlying buildings, as required.
  • May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required.
Requirements
  • Sufficient training, education, and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the above key responsibilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience with high-volume food preparation in a commercial/industrial/institutional kitchen setting, including cleaning of appliances, equipment, and premises.
  • Possession of a California ServSafe Food Handler Certificate is desirable.
  • Lead/supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County Driver's Authorization.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent lifting, bending, and standing. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
